a campaign to end mass incarceration
october 2019 – march 2020
While working at 50+1 Strategies, I was the lead designer on Yes on R — a ballot initative of Reform LA Jails, an organization headed by Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors. Measure R demanded more accountability from the violent and lawless LA County Sheriff’s Department, as well as investment in alternatives to incarceration.
Measure R passed with 71% of the vote, a landslide victory, on March 3, 2020. 🎉

Like any political campaign, Yes on R’s field operation needed literature to drop at the doors and hand out to voters. I designed two doorhangers based on our best polling messaging, as well as a mailer to be sent to voter households.
Yes on R was endorsed by influencers, celebrities, and other public figures across LA County. I created sample Instagram posts and stories for them to share on their feeds to spread the word about Measure R, as well as personalized endorsement graphics by request in consultation with their teams.
